Warp & Woof
2005 - 2009
My first venture into founding and building agencies was a tad brazen, considering I’d only been in London for two years and was all of 27 years old. My creative partner Adam Fenn and I decided to start our own agency in one of the world’s financial capitals.
Woof & Warp started in partnership with Kut Communications in Turin run by my friends Robin Goode and Alessandro Scali at Kut Communications. We were an all-creative team, small and hungry to make an impression.
It was a helluva learning curve, and I developed experience in strategy, business financials, HR, client service and so much more on the logistics side.
Over four and a half years, we built our team up to 10 staff, and landed clients in the UK, USA, Canada and across Europe, including Shell and The Economist.
The 2008 crash unfortunately meant that one of our key clients broke their retainer contract with us, which means we had to cut all costs to keep the business together.
As we started to rebuild, my business and creative partner Adam Fenn and I realised there was a lot of fun and good money to be had freelancing. So, we switched our focus and had a brilliant time touring the London agency circuit.
It was such a darn good name, that once we closed shop, some of our friends / colleagues nicked the name and rebranded their agency White Label to Warp & Woof - here’s their agency with the stolen name:
